It’s time to embrace the Virgil Abloh spirit this season with latest new home-ware collection from 7th October at www.farfetch.com
Last year Virgil Abloh had been tinkering with furniture for a while: take his collaboration with Swiss design brand Vitra at Art Basel, his “Acqua Alta” collection at the Venice Biennale, or his partnership with fast-furniture behemoth Ikea. However last year, the multi-hyphenate designer finally launched his own signature home brand, Off-White “HOME.”
Sticking to his signature of simplicity, “HOME” is broken down into three straightforward categories: ceramics, bed, and bath. Why those three? ‘To Abloh, there are certain things that come to mind when you think about a home, or your home. It’s familiar, comfortable. A place for you to relax and maybe entertain,’
‘I think these three speak to all of those comforts and the necessities that we’ve come to expect should be provided to us in a home.’ added Virgil.
Comforts and necessities, to Abloh, are things like coffee mugs, sheets, terry-cloth towels with a matching bathrobe. Fittingly, everything is done in shades of — you guessed it — off white. But colour is not completely absent. This season Off-White proudly announces the second release of their HOME collection featuring more than 80 new products.
The HOME collection is conceptualized by “taking the familiar and making it new” – for dressing all rooms of the home. The collection is characterized by the HOME orange, fluorescent label, inspiration drawn from Off-White’s ready-to-wear collection textiles, alongside the “swimming man” logo and iconic “Meteor” holes. The color palette consists of neutrals in black-gray-beige tones with fluorescent pink and orange accents.
Starting with the entrance of the home, the collection holds three doormats in three assorted models and sizes to adapt to different spaces and needs. The traditional doormat is reinterpreted with Off-White logos; the “swimming man” logo, “Off-hand” logo and “Off-cross” logo – the classic Off-White orange label is applied on the back to each. Further products for the entrance of your home include an umbrella stand – in a standard, cylindrical shape repurposed by Off-White’s “Meteor” holes in both black and fluorescent orange. To complete this environment, the HOME collection also offers umbrellas in opaque white, black, dove-gray, imprinted with the “swimming man” logo externally, alongside a quote visible to the user when opening “insert sunshine here”, internally.
For the living room, the HOME Collection holds a series of mohair throw blankets and pillows.
The design inspiration for these pieces come from Off-White’s ready-to-wear collections, sourcing classic knitted arrow gradient – ranging in both black with fuchsia accents and taupe beige. Additionally, the collection holds cylindrical-shaped upholstered stools covered in fabric printed with wave, bird and arrow motif graphics from the read-to-wear collection – with wallpaper offerings in identical patterns. The doorstopper could be positioned in this space of the house, as in any room. It’s traditional wooden wedge shape is re-approached on an enlarged scale with “Meteor” holes, branded with the “swimming man” logo. To complete this atmosphere, the collection holds a wall clock, in an iconic shape which marks 12 o’clock with the “Off-hand” logo.
HOME Collection kitchen offerings include table furnishings, alongside the collections iconic ceramics. The table furnishings include a tablecloth, placemats and runner, in repeated arrow graphics. The ceramic collection is created with an artisanal method and comes in two color variations – black opaque exterior with a glossy interior and dove gray shine. The collection holds a mug, glass, water jug, lunch set, breakfast set and ashtray – each embossed with classic Off-White logo embossed on the back of each piece.
Bedroom product include both bed furnishings and sleepwear. Bed furnishings include a double bed set in both gray cotton and beige linen variants. The classic arrow logo, approached with flower embroidery is display on the cushions, Off-White logo lettering is imprinted on the bedsheet – with the collection’s orange label with “Meteor holes” on the bottom of the duvet cover. The arrows are repeated on the collection’s sleepwear – ranging from pajamas and silk dressing gown and accompanied by terry and silk slippers.
HOME Collection bathroom products include a towel set, shower towel and bathrobe characterized by the “swimming man” logo in both gray and white color offerings, alongside a third variant of white repeated arrows in contrasting color – all of which are characterized by the collection’s orange label. The collection also holds a hand mirror, brush, comb and toothbrush in Havana acetate, marble effect with gold logos – all embracing Off-White’s “Meteor” holes.
Completing the HOME collection is stationary products – a notebook, note cube and notepad. Each of which are produced with Havana cardboard covers, white paper printed with the “swimming man logo” and binder clips in black matte metal with an engraved logo paying ode to Off-White’s iconic “binder clip” bag.
