ZEGNA FW26/27 Opens With a Family Wardrobe

Professor Ivan Allegranti is a seasoned freelance journalist and academic…
When still a teenager, Alessandro Sartori inherited around twenty suits from his late father Giuseppe, a textile-machinery designer linked to Biella, the birthplace of Zegna.
Now artistic director since 2016, Sartori opened the house’s first show under new CEO Edoardo Zegna with a meditation on the family wardrobe, staged among the founder’s desk and four generations of garments.
He proposed clothes as wearable heirlooms, inspiring a collection shifting from sleek uniformity toward playful historical references, material experimentation, and emotionally charged characters worthy of collectors. Its message resonated with VICs and beyond.

His journey into the world of fashion began in an unlikely place, as an apprentice in a tailor’s shop. Quickly realising that his strengths lay not in the precision of the needle but in the art of storytelling, he turned his focus to chronicling the brands, artists, and visionaries who define the luxury industry. Today, he combines his legal expertise, academic insight, and narrative flair to bring depth and perspective into GAZETTA. @ivanallegranti
