Balenciaga Spring Summer 2026: A New Romantic Order

Pierpaolo Piccioli made a gallant debut at Balenciaga, paying homage to Cristóbal Balenciaga while nodding to Nicolas Ghesquière and Demna. The show opened with a black sack dress, then moved through the archives: Darth Vader–esque wedding looks, balloon skirts in leather, and tulip dresses reworked with streetwear energy.
Egg-shaped coats recalled Ghesquière’s celebrated 2006 Balenciaga collection, while supersized City Bags, cropped shirts, and midriff-baring leather tops injected modern tension. Yet Piccioli’s signature romanticism and sculptural silhouette work remained unmistakable.
The result was a graceful collision of past and present, a debut that honored legacy while writing a new, poetic chapter in Balenciaga’s evolution.
