Alexander Mcqueen Spring Summer 2026: The Return of The Bumster

Ivan Allegranti

The bumster is back. Seán McGirr resurrected Alexander McQueen’s infamous ultra-low-rise trousers** as the spine of his Spring/Summer 2026 collection, pairing them with military jackets, corsets, and chainmail tops.

Staged on a circular set inspired by The Wicker Man, the show radiated erotic tension and pagan undertones. McGirr brought a renewed focus to daywear — corseted police shirtsshredded denim pencil skirts, and slashed rose-print dresses — all imbued with that unmistakable McQueen edge.

Still, the spectacle remained: a gold sequin-and-feather gown shimmered like molten light, and a parachute dress in watercolor print, complete with hidden amorous ladybirds, offered a wink of surreal beauty.

McGirr’s revival proved one thing: provocation can still be poetic when stitched with purpose.
