Access for Everyone, From How we Began

Dina Yassin

When we started Gazetta, the goal was clear. Build a magazine that feels alive and open. Not just stylish to look at, but welcoming to read. Early on, Ivan Allegranti said it straight: make it available to the visually impaired. That line set the course. It turned a value into a requirement.

Now it’s live. Gazetta is accessible to readers who are visually impaired. This is not a bolt-on. It’s built into the site. Yousef Hammoda, our Tech Architect, rebuilt the experience around access. Clean structure. Clear labels. Meaningful descriptions. Quiet work with real impact.

Our contributors have been buzzing about it. They want their stories to meet more readers, in more ways, with less friction. That energy matters. It keeps the whole room focused on what counts: reach with respect.

Here is what you will feel on the page. Articles announce in a logical order to screen readers. Headings make sense. Links do their job. Images carry alt text that tells you something useful. You can move through the site with a keyboard. Type scales without breaking the layout. Color contrast holds so your eyes can rest. Transcripts and captions are rolling out across The Gazetta-Cast and embedded media.

Try it yourself. Visit gaze-tta.com. Tap the accessibility icon on any page. Adjust text size, choose higher contrast, set your reading flow. If you use a screen reader, menus, captions, and links should announce in a clean sequence. If anything feels off, tell us. We will fix it.

Why we care is simple. A story only matters if you can read it or hear it. Access is part of the experience, not an afterthought. It respects the reader and strengthens the work.

What comes next. Audio reads for key features. High-contrast and low-motion presets as quick starts. Day-one transcripts. Better image descriptions that add context you can use. We will keep improving issue by issue.

Thank you, Ivan, for setting the direction. Thank you, Yousef, for the build. Thank you to our contributors for the push and the excitement. Gazetta is for everyone. Now the site behaves like it.
