Rooted in Presence: A New Year with Gazetta

Happy New Year!

Ummm…..I spent New Year’s Eve in a quiet space, away from the rush and noise that often accompanies the ticking of the clock into a new year. There was something grounding about that silence, a calm that felt like a gentle nudge to embrace stillness. It reminded me that beginnings don’t have to be loud to hold meaning to be quite honest. Sometimes, they just need to be present.

This issue’s cover was inspired by a moment like that. Reflecting Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, I wanted to create something that feels both timeless and immediate, soft yet striking. The figure you see, with his sharp, story-filled gaze and attire echoing the Touareg nomads of the desert, represents the beauty of simply being.

The Touaregs don’t chase resolutions or let the ticking of time define them. They follow the stars, move with the sands, and live fully in each moment. There’s no pressure to be more or do more—they simply just are! That way of being feels like an antidote to the urgency we so often impose on ourselves, especially at the dawn of a new year. So much to start off right…..hmmm.

This cover, created using AI, became my reflection on these ideas. Mocha Mousse, with its grounded warmth, became my canvas—a reminder of the earths quiet strength and the calm we often forget to notice.

This January issue invites you to linger in that calm. To immerse yourself in the earthy tones and timeless narratives running through these digital pages. Manuela Pirola beautifully captures the essence of Mocha Mousse, sharing its message of balance and serenity amidst lifes chaos with hr cover feature. Meanwhile I explore Gianvito Rossis SS25 collection and the evolution of warm hues in architecture, showing how design can shape the way we feel.

Sonia Haboub takes us on a journey to Kenya and Ethiopia, exploring how culture, heritage, and the land itself give rise to some of the world’s most remarkable runners. EVVIE 7 bridges the future and the present with gadgets that merge innovation and earthy aesthetics, while Robert McFadden shares thoughtful guidance for navigating financial decisions with clarity and care in the year ahead.

With this issue, its is more than just a collection of articles. It’s a chance to pause, to find meaning in quiet moments, and to connect with stories that resonate deeply. Just as the nomads find their rhythm in the shifting sands, I hope these digital pages help you discover your own rhythm, wherever this year may lead you.

And don’t forget to listen to The Gazetta-Cast! Hosted by Jad and Mimi, it’s where the stories behind our digital pages come alive. January episodes are dropping soon, with insights into the cover feature, Mocha Mousse, and many of this month’s exciting reads. We’re now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts—tune in to be part of the conversation!

For me, this year isn’t about rushing toward goals or tallying achievements. It’s about being here, fully present in this moment. And I’m thankful you’re here with us, sharing in this journey.

Here’s to a 2025 rooted in intention, calm, and the quiet brilliance that presence brings.
