DRIVEN BY DESIGN
Fashion met horsepower at DRIVEN BY DESIGN, where I watched César Galindo and Ema Savahl take over the newly opened BMW of Long Island City during New York Fashion Week. The four-story flagship created an unexpected backdrop for the runway, bringing fashion, architecture, and automotive design together under one roof.
Galindo’s collection caught my eye with polished silhouettes and intricate details, including a soft blush look with delicate floral embroidery that brought elegance to the runway. Savahl shifted the mood with a striking pink one-shoulder gown, where floral-inspired detailing, an asymmetric cut, and a flowing skirt created movement and drama.
Seeing the two collections in the same space showed how differently each designer approaches statement dressing while still commanding the runway. There was something exciting about watching fashion move through a space normally reserved for automobiles, especially during a week when presentation can be just as memorable as the clothes.
DRIVEN BY DESIGN proved that sometimes the most interesting runway moments happen when fashion leaves the traditional runway behind.
