Stefano Gabbana has stepped down as chairman of Dolce & Gabbana, the company he co-founded in 1985 with Domenico Dolce. The role has been taken over by Alfonso Dolce, the company’s current CEO and brother of Domenico Dolce.
According to Bloomberg, Gabbana resigned in December, with the transition taking effect on January 1, 2026, although the news was disclosed only later. Reuters also reported that Dolce & Gabbana confirmed his resignation from corporate roles while stating that his creative role at the house remains unchanged.
Alongside the leadership change, Gabbana is reportedly considering strategic options regarding his approximately 40% stake in the company, potentially opening a new phase for the maison. Ownership remains closely tied to the founding family as Dolce & Gabbana enters a period of internal reorganization and longer-term strategic reflection.
