Sunnei SS26: The Auction of Desire

Professor Ivan Allegranti is a seasoned freelance journalist and academic…
Sunnei staged its Spring/Summer 2026 collection as an imaginary auction with Christie’s. Nothing was for sale, yet everything appeared to be — fashion translated into the language of auctions.
In a surreal, theatrical atmosphere, fiction and reality mirrored one another, erasing boundaries between spectacle and system. Community members embodied the collection with individuality, joined by Christie’s Italy director Cristiano De Lorenzo. The performance became a metaphor of desire surpassing value.
A mock auction, followed by real goodbyes, closed the evening as founders Simone Rizzo and Loris Messina announced their departure after this farewell show.
