PHILIPP PLEIN takes GENEVA by storm with his new TIMEPIECE collection
Philipp Plein unveiled his innovative new watch collection last Tuesday, 9th of April in Geneva. This comes after the outpouring success of his first ever Swiss Made watch line, inaugurated in 2023. The new PHILIPP PLEIN Crypto King Flying Tourbillon and Crypto King Hexagon stand out as two unique lines of exquisite craftsmanship.
Plein’s foray into the realm of luxury timepieces marks a significant shift in the industry’s landscape, in which the designer has established himself thanks to his bold flair and unwavering commitment to excellence. Every watch is a masterpiece, crafted with meticulous attention to detail in Switzerland’s renowned hub of watchmaking, epitomizing the zenith of horological skill.
The collection was launched through an exclusive pop-up store situated in the bustling heart of Geneva. The city’s lakeshore served as a perfect backdrop to the presentation, with the new range comprising the brand’s luxurious essence and the designer’s trademark innovation. THE CRYPTO KING FLYING TOURBILLON: BEYOND TIME
This extraordinary timepiece represents a significant leap forward, pushing the boundaries of innovation and craftsmanship, while contributing to elevating the brand’s name to a leader status in watchmaking excellence.
The custom-designed Landeron calibre PWL100LPP Manual winding Flying Coaxial Tourbillon movement combines the mastery of watchmaking with PHILIPP PLEIN’s dedication to mechanical innovation. The ingeniously designed open window dial provides a mesmerizing perspective of the flying tourbillon, unveiling its intricate gears in a graceful display that seems to defy gravity, ensuring flawless visibility.
The Coaxial escapement, emblematic of Swiss precision engineering, further elevates the exceptional performance of the watch. The collection presents four different models, with each one of them featuring unconventional colour combinations:
- DARE DEVIL XII: a vibrant blend of red and white, accompanied by a transparent PU strap for a contemporary flair.
- NINJA PANDA: a timeless juxtaposition of black and white, with a white silicone strap completing the aesthetic.
- DRAGON FIRE: an electrifying fusion of black and orange, highlighted by a soft-touch silicone strap.
- NIGHT WOLF: the epitome of the collection, showcasing a captivating black carbon case adorned with opulent 18k Rose Gold screws, hexagonal side cage, and crown.
With its cutting-edge materials, the watch manages to be light despite its strong tonneau-shaped case of 55 x 46 mm, crafted from high-performance forged carbon. Durability meets a distinctly masculine aesthetic in this model, further enhanced by branding elements that make this Timemachine unique: the PHILIPP PLEIN Hexagon motif.
Integrated throughout the timepiece, this Symbol of Greatness embellishes not only the top ring but also perforates the strap, adorns the 12 o’clock PP logo, and extends to the 10 screws on the case itself. Flipping the watch over reveals the unmistakable personality of PHILIPP PLEIN. The back case window presents disruptive elements – the brand’s iconic $miley and $kullbone motifs alongside the watchmaker’s signature initials.
Produced in limited edition, each Crypto King Flying Tourbillon embodies the revered tradition of Swiss watchmaking while staying true to the brand’s unconventional and irreverent ethos.
THE CRYPTO KING HEXAGON: ARCHITECTURAL ELEGANCE
The PHILIPP PLEIN Crypto King Hexagon epitomizes the seamless fusion of functionality, architecture and design prowess. It is characterized by a tonneau-shaped case embellished with the brand’s iconic hexagonal motif, an avant-garde strap, and a robust Swiss Made automatic movement. The flawless artisanship and sturdy case construction exemplify the pinnacle of Swiss watchmaking precision. With dimensions of 55 x 45 mm, the Crypto King Hexagon features a double-layered, open dial that proudly showcases the distinctive hexagon logo alongside the double PP emblem. The transparent caseback and double-domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, offer a captivating view into the intricate inner workings of the timepiece.
