KARL LAGERFELD CONFIRMS FURTHER COMMITMENT TO THE GLOBAL “FASHION PACT”

More than a year after the founding of the Fashion Pact in August 2019, the fashion brand Karl Lagerfeld continues to agree to support the sustainability alliance. The company announced this on Tuesday at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit.

“The entire fashion industry has a responsibility to reduce its impact on the planet, and we can only achieve this goal together. We pride ourselves on Karl Lagerfeld’s commitment to the Fashion Pact – as one of the 32 original brands that signed – and the collective steps we are taking with the other members. We continue to put sustainable policies and practices at the heart of Karl Lagerfeld’s business strategy and we look forward to announcing more in the coming weeks, ”said Karl Lagerfeld CEO Pier Paolo Righi in a statement.

Immediately before the G7 summit in Biarritz at the end of August 2019, Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault unveiled the Fashion Pact , a coalition of initially 32 fashion houses to protect the climate, biodiversity and the world’s oceans, which now has more than 60 leading companies out of fashion – and textile industries, including luxury, lifestyle and sports brands as well as suppliers and retailers. The Fashion Pact builds on the work of existing organizations such as the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the global sustainability initiative Fashion For Good.

A concrete goal in the area of climate is, for example, the complete conversion to renewable energies by 2030 and the complete renunciation of deforestation and a sustainable use of forests by 2025 in the area of biodiversity. As far as the protection of the world’s oceans is concerned, the signatories of the Fashion Pact undertake to completely dispense with plastic as part of B2C packaging by 2025 and for B2B packaging by 2030.

“In all of Karl Lagerfeld’s business areas, the organization carefully examines how it can have positive effects through responsible behavior, honest behavior and mutual respect,” the company adds.
