EVVIE 7: Sabrina, what was the ‘aha’ moment that led you to become a confidence coach, especially for women post-divorce?
Sabrina Aman: After my divorce, I was debating whether to stick around in London or head back to Los Angeles where my documentary filmmaking career had blossomed. But a little voice inside me wanted to give London a shot on my own.
Then, I had this lightbulb moment! I decided to start a career coaching business to help women go after their dreams – something I’m super passionate about. The first few months were a bit of a struggle. I was suffering with low mood and a lack of motivation while going through my own healing journey post-divorce.
I was hesitant to share my divorce story on social media because of my fear of judgement. People can sometimes see divorce as a “failure.” For ages, I’d only shown the highlight reel of my life, the successes. But one day, I stumbled upon this beautiful audio poem on Instagram that touched my heart and gave me the inspiration I needed to tell my story.
Even though it was tough, I put together a short video about my healing process after divorce and posted it online. I talked about how I used to be very confident but had lost my confidence due to divorce and that I was on a mission to get it back. I was scared about what people would think, especially my family. In many cultures including mine, divorce is shameful. But I posted the video for me, to break free from the judgment I was putting on myself.
The next morning, I woke up to 2 million views and a hundreds of messages from women around the world who thanked me for sharing my journey and wanted to know how I rebuilt my confidence after divorce. If this wasn’t a sign from God to create a program to help women navigate life after divorce – I don’t know what is.
EVVIE 7: Could you share the foundational principles that guide your approach to helping women rebuild confidence?
Sabrina Aman: I take women on a very simple three step process to help them get their spark back after divorce.
The first step is to dissect the unhealed wounds that most likely stemmed from their childhood.
The second step is to create a brand new lifestyle which entails new routines, habits, values, boundaries, and various exercises all designed to pour self love and self care into nothing other than woman herself. It’s like a new makeover for the soul.
The last stage is where I help the woman find her purpose in life or set up a new, exciting goal. Maybe it’s a kick-butt career move, picking up a new hobby, or mastering a skill. The idea is to step out of that comfort zone and start walking towards her dream life.
When you put all these steps together, magic happens! It’s like a power-up that leaves a woman feeling super empowered, successful, and confident. The game plan here is to shift the energy from dwelling on the past miseries to reclaiming that inner power. This way, she can heal, attract love again, and do it all from a place of high self-worth instead of insecurity.
EVVIE 7: What are some quick, everyday confidence-boosting tips you personally use or recommend?
Sabrina Aman: First up, I swear by these 5-minute morning meditations I find on YouTube. It’s a quick reset for my mind to get my day started on a positive note. I used to doze off during meditations so these 5 minute ones are short, sweet and perfect for someone who finds endless excuses to not meditate.
Then, 5-minute journaling. It’s a mini therapy session where I jot down what I’m grateful for and my goal for the day. This helps keep me accountable and on track.
Also reading! I squeeze in 15 minutes daily. It’s not a lot, but it’s all I need to make sure it becomes a consistent habit that fuels my mind with knowledge and positivity.
And finally nature walks! I try to do them 2-3 times a week. I stroll through nature, soaking up good energy, all while listening to a motivational podcast. I put my phone on Do Not Disturb. A lot of healing and creative ideas popped up during those walks that have elevated my emotional health as well as my business.
The whole point of these routines is to keep my subconscious mind vibrating in high frequency so it can attract more good into my life – personally and professionally.
EVVIE 7 : Tell us about some common challenges women face post-divorce, and how does your coaching help them navigate these?
After a divorce, women deal with insecurity, self-doubt, lack of confidence, fear of judgement, fear of failure, shame, guilt, blame, regret, resentment and I can go on and on. Coaching is absolutely fundamental to help women break free from all that emotional baggage by helping them take charge of their present and move away from the past.
Coaching is like a friend cheering you on and helping you feel strong and in control again while also giving you a roadmap to help you reach your goal.
EVVIE 7 : Can you share/describe a key strategy or technique you use to empower women to rediscover their self-worth?
One powerful strategy I use to empower women in rediscovering their self-worth is setting a new and challenging goal. This goal could be diving into a new career path, picking up a hobby, or learning a new skill like tennis or learning how to paint, or even starting that business they’ve always dreamed about! When a woman invests in herself by achieving confidence in her career or personal pursuits, that same positive energy goes into her relationships. The self-worth she gains from excelling in her chosen endeavor becomes a magnetic force that attracts high value partners.
It’s important for a woman to redirect her energy and focus away from the past by engaging in new activities that are designed to boost her confidence, sense of worth, and overall value. These intentional actions are the key ingredients that help women regain their spark after a breakup or divorce.
EVVIE 7 : In your experience, how critical is the role of personal growth and healing in rebuilding one’s life post-divorce?
Sabrina Aman: It’s paramount! Avoiding personal growth and healing invites a cycle of repeating familiar patterns experienced in previous relationships. It’s critical to recognize and address any underlying trauma and unhealed wounds to gain a deeper understanding of the factors that contributed to past relationship dynamics and the insecurities felt today.
Often times, we tend to blame our partners or former partners for all the mess in our relationship when what we need to do is take accountability in the role we played. To break the cycle of these repetitive patterns, a woman needs to embark on a self discovery, her healing journey and really do the inner work necessary to take full control of her emotional health.
EVVIE 7: In the context of Valentine’s Day, often a celebration of romantic love, how do you advise individuals, particularly those rebuilding their lives post-divorce, to use this day as an opportunity for self-reflection and personal growth?
Sabrina Aman: Personally, I’ve never placed great importance on Valentine’s Day in my relationships because I believe in the importance of showing romance throughout the year rather than one specific day.
Today, we have what we call Galentine’s Day, where girlfriends can celebrate together doing anything they enjoy. And I have something called Selfentine’s Day, a day where a woman can spend that day spoiling herself with self love and self care activities be it shopping, eating out, getting ice cream, massage, getting nails done or whatever makes her soul happy.
I also remind women that if they want a man to treat them a certain way, they need to lead by example and treat themselves that way. Why wait for anyone to romance you when you can romance yourself? This type of self love treatment is what inspires a man to match your energy and meet you at the same level of self-respect you’ve established for yourself.
EVVIE 7 : Without revealing confidential details, do you have a favorite transformation story where you helped a client rediscover joy and confidence?
Sabrina Aman: One remarkable client transformation that I cherish involves Sonia, who graciously encourages sharing her story to inspire other women. Sonia is a well respected teacher, talented dancer and has a telling passion for fashion! However, at 54, she was feeling depressed with concerns about aging as a single, divorced, and childless woman feeling like life was pretty much over for her.
Additionally, she found herself wasting time with a man who continuously sent her mixed signals which contributed further to her lack of self worth. She allowed him to dangle a hopeless carrot in front of her in hopes of someday appreciating her.
Half way through my Breakup to Breakthrough program, Sonia regained her self-worth, fell in love with herself, started taking care of health and fitness, began creating fashion content for her Instagram page (this was such a huge step for her as she was really insecure about it), dumped the guy, and is now living in her full power and potential.
Sonia has become a stunning embodiment of self-love. Her journey is a testament to the transformative impact of rediscovering self-worth and confidence through intentional self-love and pursuing one’s passions.
EVVIE 7 : What’s a common myth about confidence building that you’d like to debunk?
Sabrina Aman: The belief that some individuals are inherently born with confidence. The truth is, confidence is a natural trait we all possessed as children. In our younger years, we approached life fearlessly, unburdened by doubts and insecurities. However, as we grew older, external factors like culture, family, and environment began to shape our self-perception which gave birth to insecurities and self-limiting beliefs.
Here’s the deal. Anyone can become confident. All it takes is courage. When a woman takes a leap of faith, stepping beyond her familiar comfort zone to embrace a new journey despite fears, she begins the journey towards confidence, regardless of whether she succeeds or encounters setbacks.
It’s important to note that confidence is not a constant state for anyone, even seemingly confident individuals have areas where they feel insecure.
For instance, in my own life, I may feel confident in relationships and my career, but I might not exude the same confidence when it comes to skydiving. But that’s okay because I have no interest in skydiving. However, if we have an interest in achieving a particular goal, then we need to have the courage to do the necessary work outside of our comfort zone in order to reach that goal.
EVVIE 7 : How important is the role of community and support systems in rebuilding confidence, and how do you integrate this into your coaching?
Sabrina Aman : It’s critical to surround yourself with a support system while on your journey to confidence, especially after a heartbreaking experience. Community can include friends, family, neighbors, colleagues who care about you, meetup groups, or engagement through volunteering opportunities.
We are not meant to navigate life in isolation. There are so many people who have so much love to give and being able to give and receive love from others is really what adds color and meaning to our life.
Within my coaching approach, I emphasize the significance of surrounding oneself with a supportive community and ensuring that they too are giving the community members the support they need as a lot of healing and fulfillment occurs when we give to others.
EVVIE 7 : What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received that you’d like to pass on to others Sabrina?
Sabrina Aman: I’m unable to choose just one, so I’ll share two invaluable pieces of advice that have significantly shaped my perspective!
Firstly, my mentor once said: “Words matter. Choose them wisely.” He was trying to teach me the lasting impact of our words and the irreversible damage they can cause. It has instilled in me the practice of pausing before speaking, particularly during challenging moments.
Secondly, my cherished advice from my father resonates deeply: “Always be kind to people even if they are rude to you. They will get their judgment accordingly, and so will you.” This guidance encourages me to approach others through the lens of love and compassion. The truth is, we don’t really know what struggles others are facing.
EVVIE 7: Throughout your journey as a confidence coach, how have you personally evolved in your approach and understanding, and what have been some key learnings that have shaped you professionally?
Sarina Aman: I healed by helping my clients heal. In serving my clients, I was truly serving myself.
The most rewarding and fulfilling job out there is one that allows you to give to others. When I initially launched my Confidence Coaching program, I was still struggling with confidence. How ironic, eh? It was only through continuous courage and daily actions beyond my comfort zone that I witnessed substantial personal growth and success leading to the development of my confidence today.
Key learnings that have shaped me professionally is learning that there is a demand for literally anything and everything in this world. We are not alone. We share the same joy, pain, ups and downs with numerous people around the world. When our intuition gives us a little nudge – like posting my first post divorce video, then it’s critical to take action upon it because there’s no coincidences in life. Our intuition is powerful and it’s there to guide us
Sabrina Aman’s clear mission transcends coaching. She’s not just helping women rebuild their lives after divorce; she’s redefining what it means to heal and thrive. Her story is a reminder that the journey towards self-discovery and empowerment is paved with challenges, but it’s also filled with moments of profound growth and joy. For those navigating the aftermath of divorce, Sabrina offers more than strategies and advice; she offers hope and a promise of a brighter future. In her words and her work, we find a powerful message: out of adversity arises an opportunity to create a life filled with purpose, love, and unshakeable confidence.
