Cosmodreams: Marina Fedorova’s Artistic Odyssey into Space and Beyond

Iconic multimedia artist Marina Fedorova is making waves on the international art scene with her Cosmodreams project, an ambitious endeavor boldly integrating various art forms including painting, sculpture, digital art and design, aiming to unveil diverse facets of the universe to a wider audience. While space travel may remain a distant dream for many, the Cosmodreams exhibition offers a gateway for spectators to envision this experience firsthand.

This project introduces an innovative platform where viewers can not only see, but also touch, hear, participate, and be a part of the art. By combining artworks, artificial intelligence, online tools and social media, the exhibition transforms the way people perceive and interact with art, both during and beyond the event. Marina Fedorova recently showcased her latest works from the Cosmodreams series at the fifth edition of JINGART Art Fair in Beijing, captivating audiences with a solo presentation. 

Marina’s participation in the event marked her third art fair appearance in China and her first in the capital city. Reflecting on the experience, the artist expressed immense pleasure in visiting China, describing it as an entirely different world that never fails to captivate her.

“The Chinese audiences are exceptional”, she remarked. “They are receptive and genuinely interested in art and new experiences. They willingly engage with the stories behind the artworks, which is incredibly rewarding for an artist.”

Marina noted several commonalities she feels with the Chinese culture, including a mutual admiration for the color red, a love for narrative in art, and a shared curiosity for new technologies. These connections, she believes, contribute to the warmth and enthusiasm she receives from Chinese visitors.

“When you exhibit in China, the feedback from visitors is always very positive”, she emphasized. “It’s crucial for an artist to receive such direct responses and encouragement.”

Cosmodreams Birth Series

The Cosmodreams project is supported by Sputnik Partners, a multidisciplinary creative platform with a focus on art-related activities and with the aim of promoting authentic and immersive artistic experiences, leveraged by digital technologies. Their mission is to inspire younger generations and reconnect societies with art through innovative approaches. “At Sputnik Partners, we are passionate about rebuilding bridges between societies and art”, she explained. “Digital tools play a crucial role in bringing viewers closer to the arts, enhancing their engagement and understanding.”

Cosmodreams appeals to all kinds of prospective viewers, meeting their aesthetic, emotional and spiritual needs. The Cosmodreams immersive experience has already been presented in China, Russia, and the Middle East until now. Over the past six to seven years, Marina has dedicated herself to this project, creating over 200 artworks that explore a variety of themes. These include patriotism, legacy, and ecology among others. For the JINGART Art exhibition, she focused on the theme of nature and the fragility of the planet, emphasizing that humanity’s foremost priority should be the protection of nature rather than its exploitation. 

Six of the artworks presented at JINGART were under the theme “Birth,” inspired by her 2020 virtual project, “Space Art Odyssey.” These works are part of the Cosmodreams Ecology cluster, aiming to provoke contemplation on humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

So far, Cosmodreams has been showcased primarily at small pop-up exhibitions and art fairs, serving as previews for a larger exhibition that Marina hopes to organize in the near future. Her ultimate aspiration is to transform Cosmodreams into a globally traveling exhibition, reaching audiences worldwide with its blend of artistry and technological innovation.

“Establishing brand and name recognition takes time and consistency in the art world”, Marina noted. “However, the initial response from visitors at JINGART Beijing was incredibly encouraging. Some attendees recognized the Cosmodreams project from previous showcases in Shanghai and expressed anticipation for future exhibitions.”

With Cosmodreams set to expand its reach and impact, Marina remains steadfast in her commitment to advocating for the protection of our planet, urging humanity to prioritize nature above all else.
