Hand-Painted by Acclaimed Artist Stephen Wiltshire, Bentley’s Alpine Green Bentayga Hybrid Becomes a Canvas of Diversity

In a vivid celebration of global unity and inclusion, Bentley Motors unveils its unique “Belonging Bentayga,” an Alpine Green Bentayga Hybrid, distinctively hand-painted by celebrated architectural artist, Stephen Wiltshire, MBE. This masterpiece on wheels showcases various skylines and iconic landmarks from around the globe, representing different continents on each side of the car.

The meticulous artwork, brought to life on Bentley’s luxurious canvas, displays 29 landmarks from cities like New York, London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Venice, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, each drawn from the artist’s memory. Known for his prodigious ability to recreate detailed landscapes after a single viewing, Stephen Wiltshire, an autistic savant, has turned the vehicle into a vibrant tapestry that celebrates diversity and interconnectedness.

As Bentley Motors strides forth in its mission to become the world’s most inclusive luxury car brand, the “Belonging Bentayga” marks a significant step in this journey. It is the third art piece released by the company to underscore its deep commitment to diversity and inclusion. It is worth noting that Bentley’s workforce is a melting pot of 52 nationalities, crafting and selling their luxury vehicles in 67 countries worldwide.

Wayne Bruce, Chief Communications and D&I Officer at Bentley, expressed the company’s delight at collaborating with Wiltshire on this project: “The ‘Belonging Bentayga’ is not just a convergence of Bentley’s exquisite craftsmanship and Stephen’s artistic brilliance; it is also a beacon of diversity and inclusion, sending a resonating message of belonging, irrespective of geographical locations.”

Stephen Wiltshire’s life story is as inspiring as his art. Diagnosed with autism at three and initially mute, he found his voice through the language of drawing. Starting with animals, moving to buses, and eventually immortalizing buildings, Wiltshire’s detailed and witty cityscapes have garnered him accolades from around the world. “Buildings narrate stories,” he observes, linking the “Belonging Bentayga” to the tales told by architecture, both creating memories and bringing people together.

In 2021, recognizing the crucial role of diverse experiences and viewpoints, Bentley Motors initiated a five-step strategy aimed at bolstering diversity and inclusion. This strategy, focusing on outreach, recruitment, succession planning, fostering an inclusive culture, and employee development, is set into motion at the brand’s headquarters in Crewe.

Through the “Belonging Bentayga”, Bentley Motors not only presents a luxury vehicle but also symbolizes global unity and a sense of belonging. It is a rolling masterpiece that goes beyond being a mode of transport, embodying a celebration of diversity and a tribute to the shared experiences and landmarks that weave the tapestry of human history and connection.
